All About Me

My name is Nick Matteo. I live in Oxford, Ohio, a small town centered around Miami University, which is not to be confused with the University of Miami, a bit further south. I am a junior at Talawanda High School and work at Lane Public Library as a page (I put books on shelves.)
I am an only child; I live with my two parents and my dog. My father works at Miami as an Italian professor (he moved to the States from Italy when he was ten.) My mother used to be a Russian professor but is now attempting to write a book. My dog, Mysti, is four years old. We've had her for 4 and a half years. Her name is partially derived from Myst, one of my favorite computer games.

I was born in Orem, Utah, on December 25, 1983. My parents then taught at Brigham Young University and/or the University of Utah. When I got close to 5, my parents decided to move so I wouldn't be the only non-Mormon kid in the state. At first we considered San Diego, but we decided to come to Oxford.
Since my father is from Italy - the province Molise, east from Rome - I have been to Italy a few times. I love it there. It's all beautiful, and the ruins are very impressive. The only problem is the increasing Americanization, stealing their unique culture. It's getting hard to find real Italian food in Italy now.
During sophomore year, a group of my friends put up a little website to make fun of our slightly "below-average" school. After getting positive feedback from a teacher and students, it grew over the summer, and soon The Underground was a quite popular phenomenon. Some rather risque stories showed up in the free forum, however, and the administration decided to announce an ultimatum over the pa system because they felt it was a hate site (of course it was not, it was mostly jokes and all in good fun. The free forum did contain a few death threats, but they were all against the creators of the site.) Since, as I may have mentioned before, we are lazy, we just took it down. Articles got written in the Oxford Press, the Hamilton Jounal-News, and the Miami Student. They're really funny.

I recently checked a Rocket eBook out of Lane library. It's great! Everyone should get one of these!
Thanks for reading about me. I don't know why anyone would care. If you have any questions, you can email me at kundor@kundor.org
